Attention Boaters! Our Security team reported that multiple boats left the fireworks area with their docking lights on. Please remember to only use your navigational lights when driving at night, which are the red and green lights on your bow and the white light at the stern. It is against New Jersey Boating Regulations to use docking lights while driving at night because they prevent other drivers from seeing the other boats. Docking lights must not be used as headlights. In addition: -All boats require navigational lights at night, including non-powered boats such as kayaks. -UGLPOA Rules & Regulations state “No vessel shall be operated on Upper Greenwood Lake at speeds in excess of 30 MPH on Saturdays, Sundays, and legal holidays. No vessel shall be operated at a speed in excess of 10 MPH between sunset and sunrise.” The POA received many comments and complaints after the fireworks regarding these particular behaviors, and that they seemed more prevalent than in prior years. Please help us keep the lake safe for all and practice safe boating. A copy of the New Jersey Boating Safety Guide can be found at https://www.nj.gov/mvc/vehicles/boating.htm |
